He was part of the Argentine Theater Ballet of La Plata, the Teresa Carreño Foundation of Caracas, Venezuela, and the Colón Theater Ballet.
In 1988 he started his international career making a tour through the U.S. with the Los Angeles Ballet Company. That same year he was invited to be part of the London Festival Ballet (English National Ballet) as Principal Dancer and was named Senior Principal Dancer the following year.
In 1991 he was Principal Dancer of the Deustche Oper of Berlin. He was also invited by the Novosibirik Opera Theater of Russia to do Yuri Grisirovich’s “Spartacus”, becoming the first non-soviet dancer to ever perform that piece.
In1992 he participated in a tour with the Kirov Ballet in Leningrad and the U.S, among others. That same year was also the beginning of his longtime collaboration as Guest Principal Dancer in the Theater Alla Scala di Milano, which has been extended to this day with the tittle of Primo Ballerino Ospite Principale.
His repertoire includes over 120 pieces: “La Sylphide”, “The Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake”, “The Nutcracker”, “Don Quixote”, “La Bayadère”, “The Taming of the Shrew”, “Onegin”, and “Romeo and Juliet”, among others.
In 2000 he created “Don Quixote, Dreamer of La Mancha” for the Stittgart Ballet of Germany. This was the first complete choreography created by Guerra and became an overwhelming success. The Stadts Theater had to add 15 more shows to the 2001 season to meet the local audience demand.
In September of 2005 he was invited by the Colón Theater as Emeritus Dancer to pay tribute to the history of its ballet company.
